Mall-oween returns to Norfolk's Sunset Plaza
NORFOLK, Neb. -- Mall-oween returned to Norfolk this year, and with it -- a boost to business, some spooky sights, and some silly scenes.
Jaedin Wilson, for example, was one of many parent-dinosaurs at the Sunset Plaza Mall's costume-and-candy celebration of Halloween with her son. The two are an example of the way spending for Halloween has significantly grown, despite supply chain shortages.
"This is the most people we've seen in quite a while so it's happy to see the mall back to life," Vanessa Brown, sales consultant at Verizon in the mall said.
The National Retail Federation estimates consumers spending reached a record $10.14 billion on Halloween this year. It's a boost to both business and spirit that mall staff are grateful for.
"It honestly feels like Halloween, the past couple of years didn't and it makes me so happy," Brown said.
