LINCOLN, Neb.- Football reclassification has been announced for schools across Nebraska, with the two schools with the highest boys enrollment remaining at the top.

Grand Island and Millard South are once again Nos. 1 and 2 in Class A. Grand Island edged the Patriots by just four boys, compared with a 100-student margin last year. Enrollment figures are based on grades 9-11.

Norfolk and Columbus remain in Class A but swapped positions since the last reclassification. The Discoverers now have an enrollment of 30 boys larger than the Panthers.

Teams with split co-ops will continue to see plenty of each other. Clarkson and Leigh have the same boys enrollment, putting both schools in Class D3.

However, two schools that split will take different paths. Wausa, after dissolving its partnership with Osmond, will play eight-man football in Class D3. Osmond will partner with Plainview this season and move up to Class C2 for 11-man football.

Friday night of week one of the 2026 high school football season is set for August 28.
