Hullabalooza set to rock Fairbury this Saturday with music, games, and community fun

FAIRBURY, Neb — A brand-new music festival is about to make some serious noise in downtown Fairbury. The inaugural Hullabalooza hits Conrad Park this Saturday, August 2nd, offering a jam-packed day of live music, family activities, food, and fun—all for a great cause.
The event kicks off at 10:30 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting and dedication for Fairbury’s brand-new amphitheater at Conrad Park. Following a brief ceremony and the playing of the Star-Spangled Banner, the festivities officially begin.
Starting at 11:00 a.m., families can enjoy mini putt-putt, a watermelon feed, face painting, and other kid-friendly games. The Fairbury Farmers Market will also be open during its regular hours that morning, and Griffey’s will be serving breakfast all day alongside fresh kettle popcorn and slushie stands.
For those feeling competitive, registration opens at noon for the Cornhole Tournament, with bags flying at 1:00 p.m. No pre-registration is required, and cash prizes are on the line.
Of course, the day wouldn’t be complete without music. The live music lineup includes:
Brandon Logston (11 a.m. – 1 p.m.)
S&N Unplugged (1:30 – 3:30 p.m.)
Personal Blues Revelation (4 – 6 p.m.)
Irie Sounds (6:30 – 8 p.m.)
Monsters at Bay (8 p.m. – midnight), closing out the night in style
According to one of the event organizers, Colby Ferris of Monsters at Bay, the band had long wanted to put together a music festival, and the new amphitheater provided the perfect opportunity.
Even better—a portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Fairbury Schools Music Department, helping to provide instruments for students in need.
“This is just something we wanted to bring back to the community,” said Colby. “We’ve been in bands for years, and now our kids are growing up here. It’s a way to give back, and hopefully something we can keep doing every year.”
Expect portions of the downtown square to be blocked off, so plan accordingly—and better yet, plan to stay and enjoy the fun.
