SIDNEY -- One of the owners of Boss City Brewing Co. expressed her concern the Sidney City Council of reclassification of Boss City as an electricity customer.

"My husband and I own and operate Boss City Brewing at 1200 Jackson St. We've been at that location for about 18 months. I just wanted to come and share our concern about a recent reclassification for our power bill from small Phase 3 to Large Demand Power. We were reclassified and this change was triggered because we exceeded the 50 KW threshold by .8 kilowatts," Norgard said.

She said the overage occurred during a 10-day period.

She said the City does send a notice in the mail, but they don't offer any notification, besides the letter. She also said there's no opportunity to correct the overage. Norgard said the reclassification will affect their monthly power bill by almost double. Boss City Brewing Company will have to be on the large-demand power for the remainder of this fiscal year, and all of the next fiscal year, she said.

She encouraged the council to implement a notification system and a one-time grace period.

"That was only a 10-day period and now we're significantly under the 50 KW per hour," she said.

She said the change in billing will put a strain on their small, local business.
