Chappell woman scores $200,000 lottery win during World Series
CHAPPELL, Neb. — While the Yankees were struggling on the field, Laurie Dale hit a home run of her own.
Dale, of Chappell, won $200,000 playing Crossword Mania, a $20 Scratch ticket from the Nebraska Lottery.
Dale purchased the winning ticket at the Pump & Pantry gas station in Chappell. She scratched off her ticket while watching the World Series, rooting for her team, which wasn’t faring well that night.
“I was yelling at the Yankees and scratching while watching the game,” Dale said. “When I saw it, I was kind of doubting there were 12 words.”
The numbers didn’t lie. The ticket matched 12 words in the playfield, securing Dale the top prize.
Dale said she plans to use her winnings to pay off her house.
The odds of winning the top prize are one in 75,000.
