AURORA, Neb. - The Aurora football team got three touchdowns from Canon Allen and used tough defense to hold off Adams Central 21-7.

The game started poorly for Aurora (2-4). The Huskies had a bad snap on a punt and allowed the Patriots (2-4) to start their first drive at Aurora's 38 yard line. A few plays later, Jack Sughroue hit Nick Mousel for a 25-yard touchdown strike to make it 7-0.

Adams Central was driving again on its second possession when the Aurora defense made its first big play of the game. Luke Grosshans lunged to intercept a pass on third down and force a turnover. It set up the Huskies offense in good position and they followed through. Allen ran it in from seven yards out on an option play to tie the game.

The Huskies kept the offense rolling on their next drive. Quarterback Booker Scheierman found Allen wide open for a 55-yard touchdown pass to take the lead. After another defensive interception, Aurora moved the ball down the field and let Allen run it in for a yard away to make it 21-7 at halftime.

Both teams had excellent chances to score in the second half. First, the Adams Central defense denied Aurora on a 4th down from the one-yard line to keep it a two-score game. After driving it 98 yards on the ensuing possession, the Huskies pushed the Patriots back from the one-yard line to force a turnover on downs.
