Hastings offense puts on a show, Tigers beat Beatrice 49-7
BEATRICE, Neb. - The Hastings Tigers ran an unstoppable offense and took advantage of four Beatrice turnovers to top the Orangemen 49-7 on Friday night.
Hastings (3-2) showed its offensive might on the opening possession. The Tigers drove 92 yards and found the end zone with a Kooper Kohl run from one yard out.
Hastings scored on touchdown passes from Tucker Synek on its next two drives to take a 21-0 lead. The teams traded touchdowns on the next couple of possessions to make it 28-7.
The biggest turning point in the game happened late in the first half. Beatrice (1-4) drove the ball into the red zone with left than a minute to play. Instead of scoring and making it a 14-point game at halftime, the Orangemen fumbled and Broeyn Hartman recovered it for the Tigers. Hastings then drove 73 yards in 38 seconds to score and make it 35-7 at half.
The Orangemen turned it over on their first two possessions of the third quarter and the Tigers managed touchdown runs on their first couple drives to bring it to a 49-7 final.
