Crofton overcomes loss of top player to hand Hartington-Newcastle their first loss
HARTINGTON - Class D1 #6 Crofton was without their top offensive weapon, but saw other players step up and hand Hartington-Newcastle their first loss of the season Friday.
Sophomore quarterback Tyson Jackson rushed for four touchdowns as the Warriors beat the Wildcats 34-14.
Crofton found out Friday morning that they would he without senior all-state running back Wyatt Tramp, who had been battling a case of pneumonia all week.
But Crofton didn't vary from their game plan, riding a dominant performance from their offensive line to 277 yards rushing.
Defensively, the Warriors held a Hartington-Newcastle team that had averaged 70 points a game through their first four games to just 14 points.
The loss was the Wildcats' first regular season loss since a 58-38 loss to Crofton last September.
