KEARNEY, Neb. - Central Oklahoma scored the final 18 points of the game and earned a road win over Nebraska-Kearney 32-17 on Saturday.

UNK's (2-1) defense held back the UCO (3-0) offense more than any other opponent had so far. The Bronchos entered averaging 65 points and 655 yards per game. The Lopers held them down to 32 points and 437 yards.

After a scoreless first quarter, UNK managed the first score of the game. Quarterback Reagan Jones scrambled 24 yards to find paydirt.

The teams traded scores the rest of the quarter to make it 14-14 at half.

Trey Pritchard drilled a 39-yard field goal midway through the 3rd quarter to give the Lopers the 17-14 advantage.

The turning point in the game came with 1:24 left in the third quarter. UNK's Kendall Brewer intercepted Jett Huff and his momentum took him into the end zone. He then ran out a couple of yards before being pursue and tackled back in the end zone for a safety. UCO found the end zone on the ensuing possession to take a 22-17 lead and didn't look back.

The Lopers were plagued with penalties for the third game in a row. Refs flagged UNK 11 times for 104 yards.

UNK is on the road the next couple of weeks before returning to play Pitt St. on Oct. 12. That game will be televised on News Channel Nebraska.
