LINCOLN, Neb. — The #3 Elmwood-Murdock girls basketball team used a big effort from Tatum Backemeyer to beat #6 Oakland-Craig 44-33 in the Class C-2 state quarterfinals.

Backemeyer led all scorers with 20 points on the way to the Knights’ first win at state since 2010. Elmwood-Murdock grabbed an early eight-point lead, but saw it get cut to just two points at halftime. They baited Oakland-Craig into foul trouble and made free throws down the stretch to finish off the win.

The Knights will play #2 Crofton in state semifinals on Friday at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
