LINCOLN, NEB - Two years after being removed from the team, a former Husker women's basketball player has filed a lawsuit against the University of Nebraska.

In the lawsuit, former Husker Ashley Scoggin states former assistant Chuck Love "groomed" her into a sexual relationship. Scoggin, who now plays for UNLV, was removed from the team in Feb. 2022, while Love was suspended with pay, but later resigned.

Scoggin states the relationship turned sexual with Love, who Scoggin states was married, leaving her "confused" and "trapped", the lawsuit says.

Scoggin also states concern for reporting Love to Amy Williams for fear of retaliation.

The suit also notes Amy Williams and University of Nebraska Athletic Director Trev Alberts' lack of affirmative acts "caused the pattern of sexual harrassment suffered by ASHLEY."

Scoggin is seeking compensatory damages for her “mental pain and suffering.”  She also seeks punitive damages, according to the lawsuit.
