NORFOLK - In a game that featured a lot of offense, it was a defensive play that proved to be the difference for Lincoln East Friday.

The Norfolk girls' opportunity for a game-tying three missed after a solid defensive effort by the Spartans, and Lincoln East held off Norfolk 55-52.

The Spartans repeatedly built leads, some as high as 10, only for Norfolk to continually come back, taking the lead briefly in the third quarter.

But Lincoln East came up with big buckets when they needed, including two late three's from senior Regan Barnard that proved to be the difference.

The win was the Spartans' 13th straight over Norfolk, a streak that dates back to December of 2013.
