Defense Dominates as Knights and Jays Split Doubleheader

PIERCE - The Pierce girls and Norfolk Catholic boys both got the turnover machine rolling as they split a double-dip Tuesday night, with the Lady Jays prevailing 57-31 and the Knights boys on top 55-34.

Skylar Scholting paced Pierce with 15 points and the Jays' D forced 20 NC turnovers. Hanna Brummer led the way for Catholic with 6 points.

The Knights boys avenged the loss as they won going away in the 4th, after Pierce kept it close for most of the contest. Nolan Fennessy notched a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds (plus 3 blocks), and Max Hammond led all scorers with 15. Deon Watts poured in 13 to lead the Jays. Catholic forced 15 turnovers in the victory.

Norfolk Catholic (both squads 6-6) is on the road at Neligh-Oakdale Thursday, while Pierce (girls 7-5, boys 4-7) is at Lakeview that same night.
