O'NEILL - The O'Neill girls' basketball team turned in perhaps their most efficient offensive performance of the season, holding off Mid-State rival Boone Central Friday, 58-51.

The Eagles were 7-of-15 from deep, including two clutch three-pointers in the fourth quarter by freshman Hannah Hilker, and sewed the game with a solid 17-of-24 performance from the free throw line.

O'Neill's shooting was what kept them in the game early. Boone Central forced nine first-quarter turnovers but struggled to turn them into points. That allowed the Eagles to hang around long enough to eventually pull away late.

The Cardinals squandered opportunities at the free throw line as well, shooting just 7-of-20. Boone Central's loss spoiled a brilliant 24-point, nine-rebound performance by freshman Addy Hedlund.
