Braves Get A Twin Killing Against the Trojans
WAKEFIELD - Battle Creek spoiled the party on Parents Night as the girls trounced the Trojans 58-34 and the Braves boys won over Wakefield 51-40.
The Bravettes set the tone for the night early on with a suffocating full-court press that led to a 1st quarter 14-0 lead and 21 turnovers for the game. Sami Wemhoff led all scorers with 16, while Tylar Humphrey chipped in 12 and Sophie Humphrey added 7 as she filled in for the injured Addi Taake.
Jordan Metzler paced the Lady Trojans with 12 and Daveigh Munter-McAfee followed closely with 10, while Katie Borg hit three treys to finish with 9.
The Wakefield boys came out running and gunning en route to a 7-0 1st period advantage. But Battle Creek quickly whittled the lead to 3 by the end of the quarter and took a 1-point halftime lead, thanks to Jaxon Kilmurry's game-high 16 points, followed closely by MJ Wragge with 14.
Jacob Borg paced all Trojans with 14, with Cael Johnson chipping in 12.
Battle Creek (girls 4-0, boys 1-2) hits the road to North Bend Central next Friday, while Wakefield (both 1-3) is at Stanton.
