Authorities arrest two on multiple charges in Lewellen

LEWELLEN, Neb. -- Authorities arrest two people in Lewellen on multiple charges after one was found hiding in a dumpster, and the other was found several hours after having fled on foot.
The Garden County Sheriff's Office said they tried stopping a car for speeding on Tuesday, but when they activated their lights and sirens, a short pursuit started. The pursuit reportedly stopped on Main St. in Lewellen.
GCSO said they deputy spoke with the driver and smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle, which led to a probably cause search.
According to the deputy, there were various drugs and paraphernalia that were found in the car, and the driver, Daisy King, was placed into custody.
King reportedly was able to slip off a cuff, escaped the cruiser and fled.
While searching, deputies said they found a man, Christopher Heater, hiding in a dumpster, who admitted to also being in the vehicle.
GCSO said that with the help of the Nebraska State Patrol, Deuel County Sheriff's Office, Nebraska Game & Parks, Oshkosh Fire Department, and local citizens, King was arrested about four hours after she initially fled.
The items that officials reportedly found in the vehicle included about 0.9 ounces of marijuana, a glass pipe containing methamphetamine residue, about 1.2 grams of meth, and a dagger with a blade of 13.5 inches.
King was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana less than one ounce, escape, possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, failure to obey lawful order, resisting arrest, obstructing a peace officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, speed limit violation and accessory to felony.
Heater was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana less than one ounce, possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing a peace officer, and two charges of a warrant for possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, attempted burglary and theft by unlawful taking $500 to $1,500.
They are both currently held in the Garden County Jail.
