NEBRASKA CITY, NE - The Auburn Senior Legion Baseball team had to go eight innings against Plattsmouth on Monday, but it was worth it as they extended their season with a 9-7 win.

The loss for Plattsmouth is their first of the tournament, so they'll still play for the B1 Title and a trip to the State Tournament on Tuesday. Their overall mark is now 21-4. The Post 56 guys will either have a rematch with Post 23 from Auburn, or they'll clash with the host team in Nebraska City.

Plattsmouth & Auburn went back and forth through the first seven innings, with each team holding a lead, but not by more than two runs. In the top of the eighth, Auburn put four across the plate, highlighted by a three-run single off the stick of Eli Albury. Albury finished the game going 3/5 with four RBI, and Caleb Fossenbarger went 1/3 with two runs scored and three stolen bases. Corbyn Jakub picked up the win, throwing three innings and giving up two runs on a hit with five walks and three strikeouts. Travon Shaw came on for the one-inning save.

Plattsmouth used four pitchers in the contest with T.J. Fitzpatrick shouldering the loss. Fitzpatrick threw two innings and allowed four runs on five hits while striking out one and walking four. He was excellent at the plate, going 3/4 with a ribbie and three runs scored. Drew Iverson helped out by driving home three runs, and Sam Campin wound up going 4/5 with one run scored and a swiped bag.
