GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The Nebraska State Patrol says two vehicles collided on Highway 34 near Hamilton County, shutting down Highway 34 around 9 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Preliminary investigations say a Subaru Legacy traveling eastbound crossed the center line into the path of an oncoming semi truck.

The truck was able to avoid a head-on collision, but the car ended up hitting the rear of the truck and came to rest in a ditch. The driver was injured in the crash and had to be extracted from the car.

The driver was taken to St. Francis with non-life threatening injuries, and Highway 34 was reopened by 10:30 a.m.
