Behlen closing Omaha facility, consolidating with Columbus location

COLUMBUS, Neb. – A Nebraska manufacturing company is closing one facility as part of a restructuring plan.
Behlen Manufacturing, which makes metal products, announced last week that it will close its Omaha facility.
The company is based out of Columbus. Company leaders said they will be relocating the Omaha portion of the business to the Columbus location as part of a consolidation with Behlen Custom Fabrication.
In a press release, it was announced that Omaha employees will be given the option to transfer to Columbus.
The building will either be repurposed or sold, company officials said.
“Today’s announcement increases our focus on growing the Behlen Country, Behlen Building Systems, and Behlen International & Diversified Products business units,” CEO and president Tom Boal said in the release. “This will position us to remain competitive in fluctuating economic environments.”
