Holdrege Market Place set to close in July, blames lease negotiations
HOLDREGE, Neb. — A central Nebraska grocery store says it plans to close this summer after 16 years in business.
Holdrege Market Place made the announcement on social media on Tuesday. In a statement, the ownership says the closure is being forced by store’s landlord, Noddle Companies, which is based in Omaha.
“We want to thank our wonderful employees and valued customers for their loyalty and support over the years," ownership said on social media. "It has been an honor to serve the community, and we are grateful for the relationships we have built with our customers."
The post says the store owners weren’t expecting to have their lease renewal denied. They say they explored renewal and relocation of the store but Noddle Companies wouldn’t allow it.
Holdrege Market Place will close in July.
Noddle Companies did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
