Shelton grabs early lead, coasts to quarterfinals victory over Wilcox-Hildreth
LINCOLN, Neb. — The Shelton Bulldogs grab the lead early and coasted to a dominant 52-22 win over Wilcox-Hildreth in the Class D-2 quarterfinals.
Shelton (23-1) built a 12-4 lead after one quarter and used tough defense to limit the Falcons (18-8) to just seven in the first half. They built a 26 point cushion through three quarters and never led Wilcox-Hildreth into the game in the second half.
MaKenna Willis led all scorers with 21 points. Madison Bunger scored half of the Falcons’ points.
Shelton advances to the Class D-1 semifinals for the second straight season. Wilcox Hildreth’s season ends after making the state tournament for the first time in school history.
