BRIDGEPORT - With her last made free throw in the fourth quarter, senior Ruthie Loomis-Goltl eclipsed the 2,000 career points mark and the Bridgeport girls basketball team won their fourth-straight sub-district championship with a 65-44 win over Chase County Thursday night at Bridgeport High School.

The all-time leading scorer in school history finished with a game-high 30 points in the C1-12 final. She signed to play basketball at the University of Colorado.

The top ranked Bulldogs jumped out to a 9-0 run in the first quarter and built a 20-point lead in the fourth quarter before the Longhorns chipped the lead down to 12 halfway through the final period. However, with Loomis-Goltl's 13 points in the fourth quarter, Chase County would get no closer and the Bulldogs improved to 23-0 heading into their district final on Feb. 24.

Olivia Loomis-Goltl added 13 points and Ella Schluterbusch had 9 for the Dawgs. Bryn McNair led Chase County with 24 points. The Longhorns finish the year at 14-9.

The eight winners of the district finals will advance to the Nebraska School Activities Association State Basketball Championships in Lincoln. Bridgeport has been the state tournament in back-to-back seasons, finishing as Class C1 runner-up in 2022.

News Channel Nebraska will have coverage of Bridgeport's district final game on 987 The Big Boy (98.7 FM, newschannelnebraska.com, and the free NCN app). Their opponent, time, and location haven't been released by the NSAA as of Thursday night.
