HARTINGTON - The top two seeds in the girls D1-4 Subdistrict showed why they were ranked that high, as Norfolk Catholic and Cedar Catholic dominated in the semifinals Tuesday night, punching their tickets for Thursday finals.

The Trojans jumped out to an early 17-2 lead and never looked back, forcing 18 Bloomfield turnovers and knocking off the Bees 62-24. Makenna Noecker paced Cedar Catholic with 22 points, while Laney Kathol and Lauren Bernecker contributed 10 apiece. Madison Abbenhaus was the bright spot for Bloomfield, leading the way with 14 points and scoring her 1,000th career point.

Norfolk Catholic joined the Trojans in the finals with a dominating 51-34 win over Wausa. Channatee Robles led all scorers with 14, and freshman Sidonia Wattier had a big game off the bench, chipping in 10 points. The Vikings wouldn't go away quietly, twice whittling 15-point deficits down to single digits, before the Knights pulled away late. Abby Kaiser topped all Wausa players with 11 points.

Cedar Catholic (18-6) and Norfolk Catholic (11-11) meet in the subdistrict finals Thursday 7pm in Hartington.
