WAYNE, Neb. -- Cedar Catholic was led by senior Laney Kathol, who corralled double-digit points with 7 rebounds and remained a consistent match up nightmare throughout the contest in the Trojans' 56-47 girls' basketball win at Wayne.

Cedar Catholic jumped out early to a 15-4 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.

The Blue Devils didn’t go down without a fight, however. A deep three-point basket from Kyla Krusemark pulled Wayne within three at the end of the third quarter.

But riding a strong rebounding advantage and clinical free throw shooting down the stretch, the Trojans coasted home outscoring the Blue Devils 18-12 in the fourth quarter.

Cedar Catholic improves to 14-2 and will look ahead to take on Guardian Angels Central Catholic Saturday night.

Wayne drops to 9-9, with eight of those losses coming at the hands of teams ranked within the top 10 of their respective class. The Blue Devils will stay at home for their next matchup against West Point-Beemer on Thursday.
