A holiday house fire in Omaha has turned deadly and questions remain.

The Omaha Police Department confirming that a seven-year-old girl injured in the fire has died.

The Tuesday fire on the city’s south side, at 23rd and “S” streets, broke out about five in the morning and was called into 9-1-1 by a neighbor who saw the flames.

It was reported that there was one victim outside and two inside the house, all with apparently serious injuries sending the three to the burn unit at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln.

Fire investigators were called to the scene and now in a statement from police we’re told that the Omaha Fire Department notified OPD's Homicide Unit that the young girl died from her injuries.

If known, the cause of the fire has not been released.
