HASTINGS, NE - The #4 McCook Bison 14 points in the fourth quarter to put away #6 Adam Central 28-14 in a top-10 Class C-1 matchup Friday night.

McCook (8-0) got on the board first with a touchdown early in the second quarter. Jacob Gomez-Wilson ran it in from four yards out to cap off a 76-yard six-minute drive.

Adams Central (6-2) responded with its own grueling drive. The Patriots used a conversion on 4th and 7 to compile an 80-yard, 6:44-drive to tie the game. Hyatt Collins ran in the score from four yards away for his 14th rushing touchdown of the season.

McCook's offense kept rolling in the second quarter. The Bison used a 48-yard Gomez-Wilson run to set up inside the Patriots' 20 yard line. They continued to pound the football with the run game to find the end zone and take a 14-7 lead into halftime.

Turnovers benefited the Patriots to start the 3rd quarter. Lucas Gomez-Wilson fumbled the second half's opening kickoff and Adams Central's Richard Waldron recovered it in the end zone for a game-tying touchdown. On the next possession, Gomez-Wilson fumbled again to give Adams Central a chance to take the lead.

That's when the Bison defense stood strong. They forced the Patriots to attempt a 41-yard field goal, which they missed. The next two Patriot drives ended with a punt and a strip-sack fumble forced and recovered by Quentin Terry.

Meanwhile, McCook scored on touchdown runs from Brett Fraker and Jacob Gomez-Wilson to grab the lead and seal the win. The Gomez-Wilson run went 54 yards and made it a two-score game with 1:29 left.
