Beatrice Public Schools in conjunction with the Southeast Nebraska Education Agency has scheduled a groundbreaking ceremony for this Friday, September 30 at 10 AM, to launch construction of the new Beatrice elementary school. The event will take place on the school site at the west side of the new site on the corner of Lincoln and 33rd Streets. Attendees have been granted permission to park in the Christ Community Church Parking lot, located at 2727 Lincoln Street.

According to a news release from the school district, the process to build an elementary school will take two years, from groundbreaking to project completion. Superintendent Jason Alexander explained, “Working within an accelerated time frame, our goal is to be ready to serve students starting by fall of 2024. This is indeed a cause for celebration---to launch this important work!”

Alexander says “The board has set a goal to improve three key factors in our PK-5 Educational Delivery that represent a critical need in our District. 1. Modernizing the safety and security of our antiquated buildings, 2. Creating a level of equity where all students can be served equally, and 3. Moving the district into a future model of efficiency in areas of personnel, energy, and special services deliveries are all main components driving the decision to build,” he added.

Alexander says “We hope the community will join us for the groundbreaking ceremony of the new PK -5 Elementary School to celebrate this investment in our community and its children.”
