26 games and counting.

That's how longs it been since the Pierce Bluejays fell to the Wayne Blue Devils, as the story repeated itself on the field Friday night in Northeast Nebraska.

Pierce rolled into Wayne with a 4-0 record, flaunting a dominant burst of scoring and stout defense in each game this year, meanwhile the Blue Devils captured its first win against Raymond Central in the prior week.

The Bluejays electrifying offense sparked early with two Abram Scholting touchdown passes to Ben Brahmer from 26 yards out and to Jackson Wacholtz on a 50-yard cannon - all with only four minutes off of the first quarter clock.

The Blue Devils came back with a third down screen pass that found Alex Phelps outracing the Bluejay defense for a season-long 75 yard touchdown pass from sophomore Kaden Keller.

That would be the only score of the night for Wayne, as the scoring explosion had only just begun for Pierce.

Abram Scholting squeezed in another touchdown pass to future Husker Ben Brahmer from six yards out to increase the lead to 20-6. Scholting then used his legs and scampered 11 yards for another score.

Keenan Valverde capitalized on a 1-yard touchdown run to continue to raise the Pierce lead.

With Wayne struggling to find life on offense, Keller went to the air on the next possession and was intercepted by none other than Abram Scholting, who proceeded to gash the defense for a 55 yard pick six.

Tack on two more touchdown passes from Scholting to Addison Croghan from 10 yards and 62 yards, and the Bluejays closed out a lights out offensive show in Wayne.

Abram Scholting finished the outing with 291 passing yards and five touchdowns, a rushing score and 22 yards plus a pick six for seven total touchdowns in the matchup.

Ben Brahmer caught two touchdowns on eight catches for 142 yards, which puts him 41 yards away from breaking Nathan Johnson's (Wood River) C1 record of 2,569 yards in a career.

Brahmer is also only three touchdown catches away from claiming Dusty Keiser's (Norfolk Catholic) touchdown record in a career with 33.

For Abram Scholting, he is 12 touchdown's shy of current Husker QB Matt Masker's (Kearney Catholic) 86 passing touchdown record.

Pierce improves to 5-0 with a matchup against O'Neill (3-2) next week.

For Wayne, Kaden Keller threw for 128 yards in the loss, as the Blue Devils drop to 1-4 on the season. They will try to regroup against a good Boone Central team (4-1) next week.
