Kerkman Powers Norfolk Catholic to Week 1 Win

OAKLAND - Karter Kerkman's five TDs and 256 yards paced Norfolk Catholic to a season-opening 37-12 road victory over Oakland-Craig Friday night.
The hometown Knights decided the best defense is a good offense, grinding out an 8-1/2 minute possession to start the game. The drive came up empty following a Nolan Fennessy fumble recovery and from there, it was all Catholic.
Karter Kerkman capped off the 1st quarter with his first score as the clock hit triple zeroes, and Norfolk Catholic led at halftime 13-6 after another Kerkman score.
Three more TDs from the NC running back, and Catholic won going away 37-12. The first-time QB for Oakland-Craig, sophomore Braylon Anderson, played admirably and finished with 125 yards passing and a TD.
Norfolk Catholic (1-0) is back home next Friday against LVSS, while Oakland-Craig (0-1) is home against Fort Calhoun.
