It took seven innings, but the Norris Titans managed to hold off an impressive Columbus rally and get a tough 6-5 road win over the Discoverers on Thursday night.

Norris came into the matchup 7-1, while Columbus sat at 4-5, looking to break a three game losing skid.

The Titans got the bats going early, as Landon Meyer and Kade Fountain both reached base and scored thanks to RBI's from Eaden Holt and Kaizer Papenhagan.

Columbus wasn't able to cash in on any early opportunities, which allowed Norris to increase its lead after a big fourth inning, where the Titans plated four more runs and led 6-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning.

That's when the tide turned. Norris starting pitcher Colton Wahlstrom finished his four-inning performance and was relieved by Daiton Schmidt to start the inning.

After recording two early outs, the Discoverers caught fire with some nicely hit balls and a few Titan defensive mistakes, allowing Columbus to fight back, tacking on five total runs in the inning.

Norris called in Sophomore standout and Florida State Seminole baseball commit, Kale Fountain, to close the inning and bring the bats back out for the Titans in the top of the sixth.

However, Columbus would bring in their star pitcher, Tadan Bell, a committed player to Coastal Carolina.

Bell went on to strike out the final six batters of the ball game, leaving it up to the Discoverer bats in the bottom of the seventh frame.

Bentley Willison singled to kickstart the inning, but was eventually stranded at second base, as the Titans recorded the final out and their 8th win of the season.

Colton Wahlstrom gets the win for the Titans, while Kale Fountain gets his second save of the year. Brennan Jelinek gets the loss for the Discoverers.

The win gives Norris its sixth in a row and its eighth on the year (8-1) heading into a matchup with Blair on Friday, while Columbus drops to 4-6` and will try and regroup against Blair on Saturday.
