LINCOLN — Make it four state title appearances in five years for the Flyers from Humphrey St Francis, as they defeat St Mary’s in O’Neill 40-37.

The Flyers won the state title in 2021 and will look to go back to back with a with over the number one overall seed, Falls City Sacred Heart.

The Cardinals of St Mary’s put up a tough fight, with only nine rosters players, with only one of them being a Senior.

The teams traded leads, until the Flyers found the fourth quarter momentum tanks to a great post presence and free throw shooting from Kaylee Stricklin.

Stricklin put up just 4 points in the first half, before exploding for 16 in the second and leading Humphrey St Francis to another title opportunity.

The Cardinals were led by the 12 points from Mya Hedstrom and 10 points from Alissa Brabec in the tough loss.

Humphrey St Francis improves to 25-3 and will play against Falls City Sacred Heart in the title game at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Saturday night at 8 PM.

St Mary’s heads to the third place game with a date against the Jets from Sterling, tomorrow at 1 PM at Lincoln High.
