Austin Welchert nailed a three-pointer with 7.2 seconds remaining to give the eighth-seeded Pioneers a 54-52 upset victory over top-seeded Wahoo in the opening round of the Class C-1 boys state basketball tournament.
Sophomore guard Grayson Bouwman added 20 points for Fort Calhoun, which was making its first state tournament appearance since 1923.
Junior Owen Hancock finished with a team-high 17 points for the Warriors.
