Beatrice knocks off Malcom thanks to career night from Ellie Jurgens

BEATRICE - The Lady Orange earned win number 12 on Thursday night at the O-Zone, knocking off Malcom 49-43.
Beatrice would lead by five at the break and by seven for much of the second half, holding Clippers star Alyssa Fortik to just three points at half. However, Fortik, who has reached double figures in 19 of 20 games, scored 11 points in a matter of 90 seconds in the fourth quarter, briefly cutting the Beatrice lead to one.
While Fortik had a fourth quarter, Ellie Jurgens had herself a night. The sophomore scored a career high 18 points and made one of the pivotal plays in the game, a late steal to send Beatrice to the free throw line.
Addie Hatcliff also had another big night, she dropped 14.
Beatrice is now 12-3 on the season, but it's a quick turn around, as the Lady O and Orangemen get set for a Friday doubleheader at GI Northwest.
