More apartments coming to Norfolk
A zoning change at last night's city council meeting will allow another apartment complex in Norfolk.

NORFOLK, Neb. -- A zoning change at last night's city council meeting will allow another apartment complex in Norfolk.
The zoning change was approved unanimously by the city council in a 7-0 vote. It allows the property at 1413 N. 13th Street to be classified as a multi-family residential zone. According to a representative for MIE, Kelby Herman, the need for apartments is still high in the city. He cited that past projects for MIE are almost full and that the area is a good location for multi-family housing.
"There hasn't been much multi-family development on that side of town, nor on the North so I thought that would be a good spot," Herman explained. "Our project we did at Nor-Park, that development, that's 99 percent full, so there's still a strong demand."
Plans for the property will be four, two-story buildings which will house 16 units each.
