BATTLE CREEK, Neb. -- A week after Logan Roberts suffered an injury to his back and shoulder he is ready to join his team and support them from the sidelines when the Braves take on Pierce in the Class C-1 semifinal tonight.

The senior has been a key player for the Braves this year playing on all sides of the ball as a running back, inside linebacker, and kicker for special teams. Roberts suffered a small fracture to his L4 vertebrae and a chip off his T12, and his left shoulder had a sternoclavicular joint subluxation strain, sidelining him for the rest of the year. Luckily he was able to get back home and was welcomed back home by numerous supporters.

"I'm very humbled about it," Roberts said. "I'm very used to doing things on my own, but having the whole community behind me and some people I don't even know they'll come up to me and be like 'Hey man I'm praying for you, I'm hoping you get better.' I'm very very appreciative of everyone in that community and my team as well and my friends and family."

Roberts says the team is his family and has been extremely supportive through his recovery. On Thursday night the team gifted him the jersey which was cut off of him after his injury, a gift that filled him with emotion.

"I'm not going to lie I started crying a little bit. That means the world to me...those guys are my family, including the parents too. They make you feel like you are at home. People there, they're very, very special people to me. I appreciate them a lot."

Roberts says not being able to play in the game has been difficult, but is determined to be as supportive of his team as possible.

"It's tough, obviously," Roberts explained. "I love being out there with my team and my closest friends...with it all being my senior year and everything...it's tough at times, but I'm trying to stay positive and I mean, everything happens for a reason, right? God chose this for my path in life and I'm sure there's a reason behind it. I've just got to figure out what it is. No matter what I'll be behind my team."
