BEATRICE - The Nebraska Department of Labor is looking out for southeast Nebraska veterans.

On Wednesday, a job fair was held at the Veterans Club in Beatrice, with the first hour dedicated solely to veterans. Deb Sanne was one of the main organizers for the job fair.

“So we decided we were going to have a job fair for the area and we decided we were going to showcase and do something special for the veterans,” Sanne said.

Companies from all over southeast Nebraska showed up, all looking to fill open roles, while maybe even helping out a veteran in need.

“There are probably hundreds of job openings available here,” Sanne said. “They’re all hiring, most of them have even raised their wages over the past couple months, so that’s a plus too.”

Sanne said the event was important because it provides an opportunity to give back to veterans.

“We feel it’s important, working for the State of Nebraska, to let the veterans know we appreciate them and we’re glad they served the county so we can do what we do today,” Sanne said.

When a veteran, or any person for that matter, comes back and acknowledges the department for helping get them a job, Sanne said that’s what makes it all worth it.

“Very rewarding, I know it was worth my time and effort to find one person a job.”
