Ashland Fire and Rescue responds to reported water rescue

ASHLAND, Neb. -- A kayaker is safe after a dangerous situation in eastern Nebraska. 

Ashland Fire and Rescue says they responded to a water rescue incident at Memphis Lake on Monday. 

According to the social media post, the kayaker was able to get out of the boat and onto an island before crew arrived. 

They say a group of bystanders were able to use their boat to take the kayaker back to shore. 

The fire department is now thanking the public's help for a good outcome to the situation.
