Beatrice man arrested after investigation of alleged threats

BEATRICE – Beatrice Police have arrested a 43-year-old man after investigating threats reported by a person who resides near the suspect.
Investigators were looking into reports of a man walking onto a neighbor’s lawn and making verbal threats to the person’s life. The victim also reported seeing the man stand in his house and point a long firearm at the victim in recent weeks.
A police officer responding to the scene saw the man come out of his home, and an investigator ordered him to stop, saying he was under arrest. The man ran into his house and closed the doors.
Police later arrested the man, identified as Jason Wellsandt, on suspicion of making terroristic threats and escape.
Police responded to the area along Bell Street at around 5:15 p.m., Wednesday.
