BRUNING, NE — On paper, it looked like eight-seed Bruning-Davenport/Shickley vs. nine-seed Fullerton should be a good game. But one team had Easton Weber and the other didn’t.

The junior running back exploded for an unofficial stat line of 269 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 17 carries… in the first half. His efforts helped the Eagles (6-3) build a 60-12 halftime lead. Weber didn’t play in the second half as BDS coasted to a 66-34 win.

The Eagles set the tone defensively. Sophomore Jaron Norder intercepted a pass from Fullerton (5-4) quarterback Fletcher Dubas on the first drive of the game. The Eagles defense forced a three and out and a turnover on downs on the next two Fullerton drives. BDS led 22-0 before the Warriors got on the board with a 66-yard touchdown pass to Brady Cook.

BDS scored on each of its first eight drives and converted the two-point try on six of them. Norder added 82 rushing yards and a touchdown on 10 carries. He completed two passes, one of which was a 41-yard touchdown throw to Eli Weber.

Freshman Carson Loos carried the load for BDS in the second half. The backup QB ran 18 times for 81 yards and a score.

The 16 winners from Thursday action were re-seeded based on wild card points. BDS is now the 14-seed and will travel to play #3 Pender (9-0) next Friday. Ol' Red 99-5 will be there to broadcast the game.
