NORFOLK, Neb. - A South Dakota business is coming to northeast Nebraska.

The Boat House in downtown Norfolk is set to open Friday.

"Our axe lanes are very unique in the area," said Christian Hunhoff, the owner of The Boat House in Yankton, SD.

"We had a lot of Norfolk...and customers from Nebraska,  so it just seemed like a natural move to move south," said Hunhoff.

Now, he is the owner of Norfolk's newest bar.

"This is the largest space we were able to find," said Hunhoff.

The bar's second location is a bit smaller, but still provides a variety.

"We also have a golf simulator which is a lot of fun, ski ball, and a beautiful shuffleboard table," said Hunhoff.

But axe-throwing is its specialty.

"They're also the safest lanes you'll ever find, axes never bounce," said Hunhoff.

Although throwers have to be at least 10-years-old, Hunhoff said anybody can do it.

"My five-year-old son can stick axes all the way to a friend had her 96-year-old grandma throw axes," said Hunhoff.

All are welcome to The Boat House with a Norfolk-twist.

"When we started doing this, we started researching Norfolk and of course when you start doing that you eventually start researching Johnny Carson," said Hunhoff.

A theme that seemed to stick.

"We found that he was a big lover of boats, and so being The Boat House we thought that was pretty cool," said Hunhoff. "We found some old pictures of him driving a ski boat and stuff like that, that we have hanging up in here that's really cool."

The Boat House is located at 501 W Norfolk Ave., Suite 110.

If you plan to check it out Friday, you will have to sign a waiver to throw.
