High school students get in-depth theatre experience

WAYNE, Neb. – Northeast Nebraska high school students got a chance to spread their wings creatively at Wayne State College on Tuesday.
Theatre students from across the region gathered in Wayne for the WSC Drama Day, hosted by the Wayne State College theatre department and the Wayne Community Theatre.
A variety of workshops covering topics such as stage combat, puppetry, dialects, movement and improvisation were taught by professional performers and WSC faculty.
”The teachers said that they were glad to return to something activities-wise after a long period of not being able to go in groups to workshops like this,” said Wayne State theatre professor Mollie Young, who organized the event. “The students seemed really excited to return to normal.”
The event's teachers ranged from a Los Angeles-based improv comedian to a former mime trained by Marcel Marceau.
