TRENTON, NEB. - The Hitchcock County football team scored on 11 of their 12 drives and ran away with an 80-26 victory over Leyton on Friday afternoon in Trenton. They jumped out to a 30-0 lead in the first half and scored on their first eight possessions. 

Senior fullback Braydn Hutto carried the ball 17 times - 16 in the first half - for 197 yards and two touchdowns. He ran for scores from 53 and 63 yards out.

Junior quarterback Keynan Gaston threw for three touchdowns on 4-5 passing for 127 yards. He added two scores on the ground on 15 carries for 50 yards. 

Two of the three touchdown passes went to junior Kolyn Gaston, who finished with two receptions for 84 yards. Another 41-yard touchdown strike was thrown to senior Colten Hagan. 

The Falcons totaled 504 yards of total offense, including 377 yards on 52 carries. The defense picked off Leyton senior quarterback Scout Gamble four times. 

Gamble went 9-20 for 235 yards and three touchdowns. He threw touchdown passes to junior Justin Ernest (37 yards), senior Mason Reimers (64 yards) and sophomore Peyton Abbott (55 yards).

Abbott also had a rushing touchdown midway through the fourth quarter. He ran for 37 yards on seven carries. 

Reimers finished with 7 catches for 165 yards.

The Warriors, who rank 18th in total offense in Class D2, had 272 total yards.

Hitchcock County held Leyton to 37 yards on the ground and only gave up five first downs. They improve to 5-1 and host Maxwell next Thursday.

Leyton drops their first game of the season and falls to 5-1. They'll host D2-10 district rival Mullen next Friday.
