LINCOLN, Neb. — Corey Lewandowski, a former aide for President Donald Trump, has been asked to step aside as a campaign advisor for Nebraska gubernatorial candidate Charles Herbster.

This comes after Lewandowski was accused of sexual harassment.

The wife of an Idaho construction executive alleges that Lewandowski repeatedly touched her, spoke to her in sexually graphic terms and followed her during a Las Vegas charity event over the weekend, with multiple people corroborating her account.

Herbster issued the following statement Thursday afternoon:

“I have known Corey Lewandowski since 2015 when I was an early and steadfast supporter of Donald J. Trump for President. Most recently, Corey has been one of my senior campaign advisors as I run for governor of the state of Nebraska. I’ve asked Corey to step back from this role. Corey and his family will remain in my prayers.”

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem also cut ties with Lewandowski, as did a super PAC supporting Trump.
