Blue dot map final, Democrats split
The fight over redrawing Nebraska's so-called blue dot is over, but the political fallout—not so much.
As we've been reporting the newly mapped 2nd Congressional District—won by Joe Biden in 2020 and Barack Obama in 2008—is now a better fit for the GOP, according to the head of the Nebraska Democratic Party.
Initially Democrats in the Legislature stood firm against the new landscape but in the end a handful went with the GOP.

There are 17 Democrats in the Legislature, but there were only 11 votes against the newly drawn Omaha area district.
The district now includes all of heavily Republican Saunders County, the more Republican half of Sarpy County and all of Douglas County where Democrats slightly outnumber Republicans.
