SCOTTSBLUFF - Sidney looked like a different volleyball team Tuesday night in Scottsbluff as the Lady Raiders dominated the Bearcats in straight sets. Sidney, who had lost 5 of 6 matches since overpowering 13-4 Alliance in straight sets two weeks ago, returned to that form with a 25-18, 25-14, 25-13 win over Scottsbluff.

Sidney out-hit Scottsbluff 33-21 on the night as the Lady Raiders rarely trailed in the match. The Lady Raiders jumped out to a 10-3 lead in the first set and kept the Bearcats in check the rest of the way for a 25-18 win.

Sidney’s aggressive serving stymied Scottsbluff in the second set. Leading 12-8, Rheagan Stanley nailed a pair of ace serves, and Alecca Campbell and Emilee Wieser knocked down two kills each to complete a 10-3 Lady Raider run and a 22-11 lead. Sidney finished off the set for a 25-14 win

Scottsbluff’s only lead of the match came in the third set, when the Bearcats sprinted to a 5-2 advantage.  Sidney rebounded to tie the set at 8 and from there it was all Lady Raiders. Sidney recorded 5 kills on an 11-1 run to give the Lady Raiders a double-digit lead 19-9. Sidney added 3 more kills on the way to a 25-13 win.

Six Lady Raiders recorded kills led by Alecca Campbell’s 9 while Emilee Wieser added 7 in the win. Sidney is now 7-10 on the season and will be back in Scottsbluff this weekend for the 14-team Twin Cities Tournament. The Lady Raiders open pool play on Friday afternoon against 4-9 Rapid City Central at Gering High School.
