Beatrice man airlifted from Sunday accident, near Pickrell

BEATRICE - A 19-year-old Beatrice man was airlifted from a single-vehicle accident in northern Gage County, Sunday.
Gage County Sheriff's officers say Brayden Cook of Beatrice was driving a 2005 Dodge Ram pickup north of the intersection of U.S. Highway 77 and West Dogwood Road, near Pickrell.
The pickup crossed over the highway median and went into a ditch, where it traveled through trees and bushes before coming to rest in a field off the west side of U.S. 77.

A medical helicopter was dispatched to the scene of the ten a.m. accident, while Beatrice Fire and Rescue personnel provided treatment to the driver.
Southbound and northbound lanes of the highway were shut down briefly for the helicopter landing. Cook was flown to Bryan West Health Center in Lincoln for treatment of injuries.
Authorities say neither alcohol or drugs, or traffic speed were factors in the accident.
