Nebraska Interscholastic Cycling League: Feelin' fine at Maskenthine
STANTON COUNTY, Neb. -- A national league is helping Nebraska start its own league for high school students interested in biking.
Maskenthine Lake Recreation Area will be hosting the second race of the Nebraska Interscholastic Cycling League's first season at "Feelin' Fine at Maskenthine" Saturday.
The course starts with an uphill climb for riders to vie for position before reaching the single-track at the top of the hill.
Although it sounds competitive, Race Director Matt Neel said it's more about supporting each other and teaching life lessons. He said 99 participants are signed up, but the goal is for 1,000 participants.
"It is a fantastic opportunity for the students to learn what it is to cheer together," Neel said.
The races will continue on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. All are welcome to come out.
