Nebraska Offensive Coordinator Matt Lubick met with members of the media following Tuesday's practice. Lubick discussed takeaways from the Oklahoma game last weekend.

"The positives were it was a good football team our guys played hard and they kept battling when it was going to be a four quarter game and we had a chance to win at the end on the last drive," Lubick said. "The negatives literally jumped out. The penalties. It is tough to overcome penalties and we have to keep working to clean that up. I think each position has specific details where we can always get a little better and that is going to be the same after a win or loss. We have to score in the red zone that was another thing in the red zone as far as finishing drives. We have to better at that. It should not have came down to three field goals. We should have been able to punch some of those in."

Lubick spoke about Michigan State head coach, Mel Tucker, and the strengths of his team.

"He has got those guys playing at a high level they are one of the better defenses in the country," he said. "I know they have had some guys transfer in there that are talented players. So I think they have done a great job as coaches the system that they have getting guys to understand it. Keeping it simple so they can play fast but it is sophisticated enough where they can cause you problems."

He also was asked about penalties and how the coaches address them in practice.

"We talk about it every day," Lubick said. "We have officials out there all the time. If a guy does have a penalty happen in practice we address it right that moment. We get a sub in and we address it to make sure they understand there is consequences about that. So it is something that we are going to continue to address and keep addressing and needs to be better. In this last game we had too many false starts and you just can not do that. We change up cadence we do different things. We actually have our scout team defense try to draw us offsides try to make it harder in practice and it is not a game to build on that."

Nebraska will be back in action against Michigan State this Saturday, Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. on FS1 in East Lansing, Mich., and radio coverage will be provided by Huskers Radio Network.

Huskers Sweep Titles in Manhattan

Lindsey Thiele and Nicole Hansen shared individual medalist honors to lead the Nebraska "B" team to a tournament championship at the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational in Manhattan, Kan., on Tuesday.

Hansen, a junior from Bloomingdale, Ill., fired an even-par 72 in Tuesday's final round on the 6,221-yard layout at Colbert Hills Golf Club. It followed a career-best 70 (-2) in the opening round and a second-round 77 on Monday. Hansen finished with a career-best three-round total of 219 (+3).

Thiele, a sophomore from Wahoo, Neb., joined Hansen atop the 62-player field with a final-round 78 (+6) to close with a career-best 219 (+3) over 54 holes. Thiele led the tournament at 141 (-3) through Monday's 36 holes after producing the best two rounds (70, 71) of her collegiate career.

Freshmen Miu Takahashi (75-68-79-222) and Andrea Velez (75-75-75-225) joined Hansen and Thiele in the top 20 to power Nebraska's four-player "B" team lineup to a six-stroke victory over Sam Houston for the championship. Takahashi (Nasu-machi, Japan) tied for fifth, while Velez (Pereira, Colombia) tied for 19th.

It marked Nebraska's first win in 11 tournament appearances at the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational. The Husker "B" team finished with a three-round score of 885 (290-291-304). Sam Houston took second at 891, while the hosts from Kansas State finished third at 898.

While the "B" team stole the show, Husker seniors Kirsten Baete and Vanessa Bouvet added two more top-25 finishes for the Nebraska "A" team. Baete (Beatrice, Neb.) used a final-round 74 to close the tournament at 222, matching Bouvet and Takahashi. Bouvet (Brunei/France) closed her tournament with a final-round 75.

Senior Megan Whittaker also supplied three solid rounds of golf to tie for 23rd at 226. Whittaker's final-round 74 matched Baete for the second-best round by a Husker on Tuesday, trailing only Hansen's 72. Sophomore Michaela Vavrova (Bojnice, Slovakia) put up the fourth set of scores for the Husker "A" team on Tuesday with a final-round 81 to finish with a 54-hole score of 235 (42nd). Lena Hassert (Kreuzau, Germany) rounded out NU's nine-player contingent at Kansas State with a three-round score of 256 (60th) in the first collegiate tournament of her career.

Nebraska women's basketball reserved season tickets are on sale now at Huskers.com.

The "Seat Yourself" process for returning season ticket holders concluded on Thursday, Sept. 16, and new season tickets were available for purchase beginning on Tuesday afternoon (Sept. 21).

Nebraska women's basketball reserved season tickets offer one of the best values in all of Husker sports. A full season of reserved tickets to 18 NU women's home games at Pinnacle Bank Arena can be purchased for just $180 - a cost of just $10 per ticket ($5 off per game) throughout the season.

The 2021-22 Huskers return four starters and nearly their entire roster from last year's team that advanced to the postseason. The Big Red has added one of the top-25 recruiting classes in the nation to the mix, including Australian National Team guard Jaz Shelley, 2021 Nebraska Gatorade High School Player of the Year Alexis Markowski (Lincoln Pius X) and Nebraska high school star Allison Weidner (Humphrey St. Francis), along with top national recruits Kendall Coley (Minneapolis) and Kendall Moriarty (Wheaton, Ill.).

Nebraska's newcomers will join a returning group of Huskers led by All-Big Ten guard Sam Haiby (Moorhead, Minn.) and All-Big Ten forward Isabelle Bourne (Canberra, Australia). Haiby and Bourne were Nebraska's top two scorers a year ago and are back alongside returning starters Ashley Scoggin (Dallas, Ore.) and Bella Cravens (Laie, Hawaii). The Huskers also return an experienced supporting cast that includes Annika Stewart (Minneapolis), Ruby Porter (Adelaide, Australia), Mi'Cole Cayton (Stockton, Calif.) and Whitney Brown (Grand Island, Neb.), who were all significant contributors to Nebraska's success in 2020-21.

The Huskers, who have ranked among the top 25 nationally in average home attendance for 11 consecutive seasons, will face one of the most challenging home schedules in school history, including non-conference clashes with perennial postseason qualifiers Maine, Creighton, Drake and Wyoming, before a Big Ten home slate that includes battles with 2021 NCAA Tournament teams Michigan (Sweet 16), Iowa (Sweet 16), Rutgers, Indiana (Elite 8) and Northwestern.
