CHAPPELL, NE — On a rainy Friday night in Chappell, the Creek Valley Storm couldn't keep pace with the Paxton Tigers.

Creek Valley trailed by just one score early in the third quarter, but second half turnovers doomed the team as Paxton won 54-18.

The Storm trailed 26-12 heading into the half. A third-quarter touchdown brought Creek Valley to within eight at 26-18.

After that, Paxton took control, outscoring the Storm 28-0 the rest of the way. A lot of the momentum swung on Creek Valley turnovers. The Storm lost fumbles inside the Paxton five yard line twice in the second half.

Sophomore Gunnar Foster led the Tigers attack, rushing for 302 yards on 13 carries and scoring five touchdowns.

Senior Paxton quarterback Caden Holm completed three of four passes for 82 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He also picked off one pass and recovered one fumble.

Storm quarterback Eli Schmid threw for 37 yards on five completions and rushed for 128 yards.

Senior Lucas Trujillo rushed for 98 yards and added 23 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown for Creek Valley.

Creek Valley (0-2) travels to Sioux County on Friday for its next contest.

Paxton (1-1) is off this week. The Tigers return to the field on Sept. 17, when they host Arthur County.
