SIDNEY, NE — A new team took the field in Sidney Tuesday. Their goal is to make sure everyone felt included.

"That was incredible, just absolutely incredible," Sidney Angels organizer Eric Packer said after the team's inaugural game. "The love that these guys got, these kids and adults with special needs got tonight, Sidney's such a great community."

The Sidney Angels is a baseball team for people with disabilities. Team members are paired with volunteers who help them play the game.

Packer says seeing smiles on everyone’s faces was a blast.

"Ah man my heart was just exploding," Packer said. "That was the coolest thing ever. I couldn't, I think I smiled the whole time. It was just amazing."

Packer, who has two kids with autism, got the idea for the team from their old home in Idaho. After trying for five years to get it off the ground in Sidney, Adams Industries stepped in to help organize.

Adam Industries representative Megan Price says it was completely worth it.

"Honestly, Adams was just right place, right time," Price said. " I think it's a good partnership. I think we work well together and we're excited to see what else we can do in the future, how we can grow it."

The Sidney Angels will play every Tuesday in July at 6 p.m. in Sidney’s Legion Park. Anyone is welcome to come play or volunteer. You can find more information about how to sign up here
